According to the article Lucasfilm Defends DVD Changes, George Lucas has taken the opportunity to yet again change the Star Wars movies around. The article says, "he very strongly believes in an artist's right to have his work presented in the way he wants it presented." That may be true, however as the consumer, I have the right to not purchase a "tainted" version of the movie. I want the original. I want the same movies that blew me away when I was a kid. The special effects may be cheesy by today's standards, but I don't care.
Thankfully I bought the original version a few years ago on VHS before the "improved versions" hit the theaters. Oh, and I didn't buy the new version of ET where the agents' guns morphed into walkie-talkies either.
